WASHINGTON, DC,
May 5, 2004 (TeleStrategies' Billing and OSS World 2004, booth 616) - Sentori,
a leading provider of multi-service billing and customer care solutions, today
announced the general availability of Version 4.0 of the Sentori Billing and
Customer Care system. Based on
benchmark testing conducted in Sun Microsystems' labs in McLean, Virginia,
Version 4.0 demonstrated that it can support mobile carriers with over five
million subscribers. Two of Sentori's
customers, M-Tel in Nigeria and Jernbaneverket in Norway, have already deployed
Version 4.0.
"Version 4.0
preserves the flexibility and broad feature set upon which Sentori has built a
strong reputation, while incorporating architectural and design innovations
that enhance its operational scalability.
With the introduction of Version 4.0, Sentori will continue to dominate
the Tier 2 and Tier 3 carrier market while offering a solution for larger
carriers as they reach and surpass the million subscriber mark," said John Bennett, Sentori's President and CEO. "We are
pleased that both M-Tel and Jernbaneverket have successfully launched their
services on our new platform."
Version 4.0
includes significant architectural enhancements, including the use of
multi-threading server technology. As a
result, Version 4.0 can be deployed on both Sun Solaris and Windows operating
systems, and offers a near-real time environment for post-paid billers. Other key new features of 4.0 are:
| |
· New EBPP and
self-care capabilities
|
| |
· Enhanced
functionality to address GSM for Railways (GSM-R) requirements
|
| |
· More flexible
applications of discounted & free minutes including:
|
| |
°
Rollover and enhanced maintenance of historical minute balances
|
| |
°
Free minute rating at the call level or at the invoice level
|
| |
°
Application of minutes to a portion of the call
|
| |
· Flexible
configuration options for group discounts
|
| |
· Enhanced support
for revenue assurance initiatives through improved rating process visibility
|
"With the launch of Version 4.0, Sentori strengthens its
position as a leading billing and customer care provider among mobile carriers
that have fewer than one million subscribers.
Just as importantly, though, Sentori offers a compelling value
proposition to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers with one to five million
subscribers," says Paul Hughes, Director of Billing and Payment Application
Strategies Research, the Yankee Group.
"There is a market
need for billing platforms that can provide price, transactional and functional
scale in order to address the appropriate price/performance needs of mobile
telecommunications providers of any size."
The benchmark
testing tabulated the performance of Sentori.s Version 4.0 on a Sun F6800
server with 24 CPUs. According to Sun.s
published test results, the rating engine ("Power Rate") processed 142,000
billable call detail records (CDRs) per minute--which translates to 8.5 million
CDRs per hour, or 204 million CDRs per day.
The system also generated 230,760 invoices per hour.
Sentori will demonstrate Version 4.0 in its booth (#616) at
TeleStrategies. Billing and OSS World 2004 in Washington, DC on May 5 - 7.
